Hi all. I know this has been asked many times, apologies for the new thread. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer. I’m looking for advice on my specific situation and to see if my understanding is accurate.
Specs
Mistakes: I didn't understand most of what I do now at the start of the project. I now know the root of this problem is caused by the DCI-P3 Retina display.
I actually started this project referencing a Flanders dm170 through SDI. However, I noticed a significant difference between the Resolve viewer and the Flanders (mostly desaturated/dull). I chalked the discrepancy up to an uncalibrated Flanders and mistakenly decided to use the resolve viewer for reference going forward.
I left the color management settings at default (Davinci YRGB). Since I was using the Retina display solely, should I have switched over to Davinci YRGB Color Managed / ACES? (More below)
My Understanding: I’m still not sure if I understand this correctly, so please correct or elaborate if needed.
This would explain why the Flanders appeared washed out and dull next to the Resolve viewer. The Flanders was receiving/displaying a rec709 image while the viewer was showing P3. Right?
Resolve exports the data as P3, not 709. VLC seems to detect this and displays as intended. However, most players (QT) can't detect or display P3 so they interpret the data as Rec709/sRGB - resulting in a washed out and dull image.
Potential Solutions: For the sake of actually understanding the underlying problem, I’d prefer to avoid just boiling it down to not using the external monitor.
If I am understanding the problem correctly, it seems like adding a DCI-P3 to Rec709 LUT to the timeline would result in a proper Rec709 export, right? Considering nothing is ever that easy - I doubt it. Also, I have had no luck finding such a LUT anywhere. Can anyone shed light on this option?
The other solution would be to go back into the settings and switch over to Davinci YRGB Color Managed and configure the pipeline correctly to allow the viewer to display Rec709 and/or export proper Rec709 files. I understand the purpose and concept of workflows like this and ACES but I get lost in the details. I actually switched to Color Managed and tried a myriad of different combinations but could not get anything that seemed like a proper configuration (based on what the viewer image and exports looked like). Can anyone shed any light on how to setup Davinci YRGB Color Managed for my situation?

Like other programs, this one is not able to download every picture from the page. Pictures that need to be maximized for a better view, will be saved only as thumbnails, despite the fact that the application has a command for downloading large pictures.
You can get a good result only when you download from simple webpages. From webpages with mixed content, you will get only some thumbnails and banners. Anyway, the speed of download is really fast because Iphoto uses 8 threads for downloading simultaneously.
The application has an active button (sometimes very annoing), which can be used to return to it, while you are on another application window.
Pluses: It's very fast; the search and download functions can be made from inside the program.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: If you need banners, this is a good way to collect them.

The iMac Retina display uses the DCI-P3 color space (P3). DaVinci Resolve detects this and converts (expands?) the Rec709 source material into P3.
